Tropical Storm Causes Floods in Philippines


A tropical storm caused severe flooding in the Philippines on Friday, forcing the evacuation of thousands of people in areas near swollen rivers and waterways as well as shutting down schools and offices in the capital and nearby provinces.  
The country's Department of Social Welfare and Development estimates that about half a million people have been affected by the floods, while two died in Quezon City because of rising water levels.
