The United Kingdom will stay united. Voters in Scotland resoundingly rejected independence in a historic referendum that shook the country to its core.

But No to a break-up doesn’t mean a return to the status quo. The referendum led to promises of further powers for each of the four nations in the United Kingdom — a pledge that will change the country forever.

Tropical Storm Causes Floods in Philippines

A tropical storm caused severe flooding in the Philippines on Friday, forcing the evacuation of thousands of people in areas near swollen rivers and waterways as well as shutting down schools and offices in the capital and nearby provinces.  
The country's Department of Social Welfare and Development estimates that about half a million people have been affected by the floods, while two died in Quezon City because of rising water levels.

Athletic Federation of Nigeria (AFN) Board Member, Ibrahim Gusau, yesterday in Abuja fulfilled his pledge of a brand new Hyundai car to reigning Commonwealth Games fastest woman, Blessing Okagbare.

Gusau, a one-time AFN vice president who is also a member of the House of Representatives had promised to give Okagbare a car gift if she makes history as the second Nigerian woman to win the 100m gold at the Commonwealth Games.

Members of the National Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party have adopted President Goodluck Jonathan as the party’s sole presidential candidate for the 2015 election.

This decision was taken at the on-going meeting of the body, which is being held at the party’s national headquarters, Abuja.
