80million Nigerians without electricity - UN

The United Nations (UN) has said 600 million Africans are without access to electricity.
Out of this figure, between 70 million and 80 million of them are Nigerians.
Kandeh Yumkela, the under secretary general and special representative of the secretary general of the UN, disclosed this on Monday at the International Legacy Lecture Series held at the Bamanga Tukur African Renaissance Centre, Abuja.

Adamawa: Boko Haram Abducts Women, Children

Boko haram has allegedly kidnapped over 50 women and an undisclosed number of children from Michika and Gulak communities in Adamawa State.

THIS DAY reported that a resident of Gulak, who escaped from the area, said that at least 50 young women were seized by the insurgents from Gulak town on Saturday after the victims were assembled at a prayer ground.

Amongst the women kidnapped were several married women and mothers.

The Nigerian army is yet to issue an official statement about this latest abduction.

Gabon Humiliated Golden Eaglets

Nigeria's Golden Eaglets were yesterday beaten 2-1 by Gabon in the first leg of their African Youth Championship qualifiers.

Ebola In OAU: Student tests negative

The authorities of the Obafemi Awolowo University, (OAU) Ile Ife, Osun State, has said that the female student of the institution who was suspected to have the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) and moved to Lagos State, has tested negative to the virus. 

The Public Relations Officer of the OAU, Abiodun Olanrewaju, confirmed this in a telephone interview on Thursday. 

He said: “The preliminary result of the girl is out and she tested negative. Another test will be done tomorrow (Friday).” 

“The university will issue a statement on this later today,” Olanrewaju said.

South African Living With Ebola Arrested in Lagos Airport

According to Daily Post, a South African woman infected with the Ebola virus has been caught at the Lagos international airport today, flying in from the Air Morok flight.

The woman, whose name is Folswe Elizabeth Maria was said to have landed at the Lagos airport. She was however screened and the virus detected on her. She was from Casablanca in Morocco.

She was arrested immediately and taken into quarantine.

Super Eagles head coach Stephen Keshi has admitted that the national team has got a lot of work to do, but commended their brave performance against the South Africa national team after losing previous game against Congo in Calabar on Saturday.
