Mugabe: I prefer Chinese aid because Beijing doesn't force Africa to 'embrace homosexuality'

Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe has said he prefers aid from China because Beijing did not force Africa to 'embrace homosexuality' like the West.
He made this comment while visiting China but left without a single yuan in aid or soft loans.

'Whereas Europe and America, when they give little funding assistance to countries they always attach conditions,' he told a Chinese TV interviewer. 'And that is our objection.'
He continued, ‘We know they are negative because the approach of China is quite different from their own approach. As I said, they want to use aid to control. China uses aid to promote the African personality.’
Mugabe visited China last week to seek aid for his bankrupt country but left without a single yuan in cash or soft loans. He did, however, sign a few expensive infrastructure and power contracts.
Mugabe is outspoken about his disgust for LGBTI people, often referring to them as 'pigs' and 'dogs.' Earlier this year, he threated to deport any diplomat who supported gay rights and said he pitied the Queen over Britain's 'gay habits.'
Ugandan president Yoweri Museveni made similar comments in July. He said it was ‘unreligious’ and ‘sinful’ to offer aid with demands to treat LGBTI people equally.
