Boko Haram Takes Over Catholic Church in Adamawa

The Catholic church has issued an outcry that Boko Haram terrorists have taken over one of their buildings in Adamawa and other Christian houses following their attack on Madagali last week.
The church, in an electronic press statement by the Director, Catholic Social Communications in-charge of the Maiduguri Diocese, Rev. Fr. Gideon Obasogie, said though the members of the outlawed sect have not been known to draw a line of demarcation of whom to visit or not to visit with mayhem, adding that, "in recent times, it seems that Christians and Christian institutions have been at the receiving end of the attacks by the terrorists."

Kano Assembly Backs Kwankwaso For President



The Kano state house of Assembly on Thursday endorsed the state governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, for presidency come 2015.

DAILY TRUST reported 34 out of the 40 members of the State House of Assembly threw their weight behind the ambition of the governor. Speaking to newsmen after the endorsement, Deputy Majority Leader, Yusuf Babangida Suleiman who spoke on behalf of the 34 said they endorsed the governor in view of the numerous challenges facing the country.

"The whole country is sinking because of poor leadership. The situation requires a capable hand like Kwankwaso. It is in view of this that we are declaring our total support for him".

Former Bayern Munich player Miroslav Klose has claimed that Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal is someone very difficult to please.

Both men worked together at Bayern but it ended in the all-time World Cup leading scorer departing the Die Roten.

Klose reflecting back on some of his playing time,picked out working under Van Gaal as the most difficult.

“It was a tough time, particularly working with Van Gaal,” Klose told Germany’s Die Zeit newspaper.

Stephen Davis: Politicians funding Boko Haram

A Perth-based international adviser, Stephen Davis, who has worked with two Nigerian presidents as an adviser, says one of the
major sources of funding for Boko Harm Islamist rebels - aside from raiding banks - was Nigerian politicians, reports Radio Australia.
Davis, 63, says he had survived months of extreme danger trying to rescue more than 270 Chibok schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram.
When news broke in April about the Chibok girls’ kidnapping from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, Davis, who had recently moved to Perth from London, decided he could not sit on his hands.

Ebola 'is going to get worse', US warns

 The head of the US's top public health body warned that the epidemic in Liberia is set to get worse and that many cases of the deadly disease had not been included in the official tally.
"The cases are increasing. I wish I did not have to say this, but it is going to get worse before it gets better," Tom Frieden, the director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, told a news conference in Monrovia.

Suspected Lekki Drug Peddlers Arrested in Lekki Lagos

  Thirteen (13) men who are suspected to be drug peddlers in Lekki area of Lagos have been arrested by men of Lagos State Taskforce on Environment al and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit. They were arrested after residents of the area had written several complaints to the government on activities of the suspects in the area.

After investigating, the task force officers stormed their hideout on Wole Olateru Street, Lekki Phase 1 on Tuesday and arrested 13 of them even though some escaped.

Desmond Tutu calls on Dutch Fund to Divest from Israel

Desmond Tutu on Wednesday urged Dutch pension fund, the world's third largest, to "strike a powerful, non-violent blow for peace in the Middle East" by divesting from three Israeli banks.
An ABP spokesperson said the management board would discuss Tutu's appeal at its monthly meeting on Thursday, alongside a letter from 'Christians for Israel', a Dutch lobby group which wants the fund to remain invested in the Israeli banks.
