He is set to succeed the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, who has been on the seat for the past eight years if he wins the February 2015 election.
Dasuki, from Dogon Daji in the Tambuwal Local Governemnt Area, was affirmed as the candidate of the constituency by 176 delegates from 21 wards in Kebbe and Tambuwal local government areas of Sokoto State.
Presently, he is the chairman of finance and appropriation committee of the Sokoto State House of Assembly.
