Mikel has been hung out to dry with so many people questioning his relevance to the Super Eagles, following some mediocre performances in the last two Nations Cup qualifiers.
Kpakor argued that despite the criticisms he gets,Mikel still strikes fear in the minds of opponents.
“Mikel may not be at the top of his game in England at the moment but he is still respected by top opponents anywhere in the world,”Kpakor told The Punch.
“That gives the Super Eagles a huge advantage. It also helps his game. He’s still relevant to the Eagles because his experience helps the team. He’s still our best midfielder.”
Mikel has been receiving criticisms since the World Cup tournament, with many championing his exclusion from the national team.
But Stephen Keshi has stuck to his guns, defending the 27-year adding that he executes the task expected of him.
