It would be recalled that violence erupted in Ado-Ekiti after the former chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Ekiti state, Mr. Omolafe Aderiye was shot dead on Thursday night. He was killed by unknown gunmen at Ijigbo area in Ado Ekiti.
Aderiye was on his way home when the gunmen numbering about four accosted and shot him at close range. Aderiye, a staunch supporter of PDP governor-elect, Ayodele Fayose was part of the thugs that Fayose took to court to attack a state high court judge on Thursday morning.
The alleged thugs attacked Justice John Adeyeye, beating him up and ripping his clothes for being allegedly rude to Fayose. Fayose, first slapped the judge and then ordered his thugs to beat him further.
In a bid to retaliate the death of Aderiye, thugs believed to be loyalists of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) charged around Ado-Ekiti unleashing violence on residents and properties on Friday morning.
The campaign office of Governor Fayemi and the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state capital, has been burnt by the rampaging thugs.
