Vanguard online reports that the service chiefs also endorsed the Presidential Fact Finding Committee on the abduction of the Chibok schoolgirls. They highlighted that the committee would reveal to the world the accurate account of how the mass kidnap was perpetrated by the Boko Haram terror group. Since the attack took place on 14 April, 2014, it has roused global outrage and precipitated the offer of assistance by countries like the US, the UK, France, Canada and China. Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh, who attended the occasion thanked members of the committee for taking on the assignment, saying that the task of the committee would give them some relief if it could deliver on its mandate. Badeh said that 'with current efforts and support, we shall win the war and bring back our girls'. The Chairman of the Fact finding Committee, Gen. Sabo (rtd.), used the occasion to condemn the disparagement of the country’s Armed Forces, and commiserated with the services on the officers that lost their lives in the fight against terrorism. It could be recalled that last week the leader of the Boko Haram sects, Abubakar Shekau said he would not release the abducted girls unless the Federal Government agree to do an exchange with his 'brethren' in Nigerian prisons. The Federal Government has since said it would not negotiate with the terrorists but rather continue to wage war against them and ensure that the kidnapped schoolgirls are rescued alive from the captivity of the islamist militant group.
