Why We Are Slow In Rescuing Chibok Girls- Presidency

The Presidency, yesterday, gave an insight into why the Federal Government was slow at rescuing the over 200 Government Secondary School girls kidnapped by Boko Haram insurgents in Chibok, Borno State, on April 14.

According to the Presidency, the present slow and steady method became imperative to avoid a repeat of the 2004 experience when 300 children were killed in an attempt by Russians to free hostages held by Chechens in the North Caucasus region of Russia.

Death Toll Rise To 82 In Kaduna Twin Bomb Blast

At least 82 people have been confirmed dead according to news reports in the yesterday’s Kaduna twin bomb blast which was targeted at former head of state, General Muhammadu Buhari and an Islamic cleric, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi.

Police gave the figure yesterday to be 40, with several others injured, but fresh reports this morning says 82 people were killed in the twin bomb blast. It will also be recalled that Gen. Buhari after escaping the bomb attack, says it was a clear assassination attempt on his life. May their souls rest in peace.

Real Reasons Sacked Governor Nyako Fled Nigeria

There was a clear indication last night that former Adamawa State Governor, Admiral Murtala Nyako, who was sacked last week, had fled the country.

A competent source confirmed to Vanguard exclusively that the governor was not in Nigeria, having left the shores shortly after he was impeached by the state House of Assembly over alleged gross misconduct.

Although the source close to Nyako claimed that the man had travelled out of Nigeria to take a deserved rest after many years on the saddle, it was learnt that the retired naval chief fled the country in a bid to avoid being harassed by security agents, who have been looking for him.

Former Petroleum Minister Dies

A former Minister of Petroleum, Rilwanu Lukman is dead. The former minister who was in office under the regime of Late Yar’Adua died this morning in Austria at the age of 75 after a brief illness.

The late Lukman was born on August 26 1938 in Zaria, Kaduna State and left behind a wife and 3 children.
