UK spy plane to help search for schoolgirls breaks down

Britain said on Monday that a military surveillance aircraft it had despatched to help search for more than 200 missing schoolgirls in Nigeria had broken down en route.

Lagos State seals 4 churches over noise pollution

The Lagos State government has said it would sanction any church or mosque found disturbing public peace with noise from their loud speakers. According to Commissioner for Environment, Mr Tunji Bello, who issued the threat at his ministry’s 2014 ministerial press briefing, he pointed out that government had been inundated with complaints from residents living near some religious places disturbing their neighborhoods with noise and it would no longer watch the trend continue.

Kano State Police Confirm Bomb Blast

A loud explosion was heard in the Sabongari area of Kano, triggering fears that the city had come under attack from the extremist Boko Haram sect. Details of the incident, said to have occurred at 9:30 PM are still sketchy, although some residents suggest casualties are likely. The Kano state Police Command confirmed the incident, but declined to provide details. “We heard a loud bang around the Sabongari area but we can only confirm details later,” spokesperson of the command, Musa Majiya narrated. “We have since deployed our operatives and bomb disposal experts to the scene.”
