Senate Passes N4.69trn 2014 Budget

The Senate today, Wednesday, 9^th of April, 2014 passed N4.69 trillion as budget for the 2014 fiscal year, nearly four months after it was presented by Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on behalf of the President. The executive had proposed N4.642 trillion, but the amount was jerked up with an additional N53 billion, by the upper chamber.

27% of the budget sum, which is N1.1 trillion is for capital expenditure, while the remaining 73% goes to running the government – N2.454 trillion for recurrent expenditure, N408.6 billion for statutory transfers, and another N712 billion is for debt service.

PHOTOS: Man arrested with cocaine hidden inside goat meat

A man from Trinidad is said to have found a peculiar hiding place for a stash of illicit drugs found in his possession.
Yudistir Maharaj was stopped for a routine inspection by security operatives at Kennedy Airport in the United States of America.
The check revealed some frozen packages of goat meat inside the suspect’s luggage and when the packages were X-rayed, a white substance confirmed to be cocaine was found inside them.
Maharaj however insists that he does not know how the drugs got into his suitcase. The suspect is now facing drug-smuggling charges. More photos after the cut...

Photo: Woman Arrested For Concealing Cocaine Inside Her Vagina

A 36-year old food vendor, Chinelo Okorom Lynnette, 36, has excreted 685 grammes of cocaine concealed in her vagina at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport after she was arrested by members of NDLEA. Chinelo was suspected and questioned during the inward screening of passengers on an Ethiopian airline flight from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to Nigeria.

She said hardship pushed her into this when she could no longer take care of her four children her husband abandoned for her and she was also forcefully ejected from the house they lived. Narrating how she met the man she now works for, she said after her landlord forcefully ejected her, she had nowhere to go, and suddenly met this man;  Her words after the cut;.....
